Day01

Cusco – Ollantaytambo – Aguas calientes – Machu Picchu

  • We begin the day by picking you up from your hotel in the early morning hours and taking you to the bus station. The assigned bus departs at 4:20 a.m. for the Ollantaytambo train station, which is a 1-hour, 45-minute journey away.
  • In Ollantaytambo, you must board your train, which begins the 1-hour, 45-minute journey at 6:40 a.m. to the town of Aguas Calientes, also known as Machu Picchu Pueblo. This is the closest settlement to the Machu Picchu archaeological park.
  • At 8:05 a.m., you will arrive at the Aguas Calientes station. Outside the station, our representative or guide will be waiting to help you board the next bus, which will take you directly to the gates of the archaeological park.
  • The Consettur bus will take you to the entrance of Machu Picchu in another 25 minutes. At the checkpoint, you must show your entry tickets and personal documents to finally begin your tour of the Inca citadel.
  • Some of the sites we will visit include the Qolqas, the terrace system, ceremonial sites, the Temple of the Sun, and the Sacred Rock, among others. The guided tour lasts approximately two hours. We will visit the most important sites. The guide will provide a detailed explanation of each spot, and you will have time to take any photos you wish. At the end of the tour, you must take the Consettur bus again to return to the town of Aguas Calientes.
  • You will have time for lunch, then, at 2:00 pm. You must return to the station to board the train leaving at 2:30 p.m. This train will drop you off at the Ollantaytambo station around 4:00 p.m. Finally, you will board the private bus back to Cusco, arriving shortly after 6:20 p.m.

Recommendations

We want your trip to this world wonder to be unforgettable, so we’ve prepared you to enjoy this experience to the fullest, without any worries or concerns.

  • Machu Picchu’s Climate.
Machu Picchu’s climate is quite variable and changeable, typical of the jungle’s edge. It is generally temperate and humid. There are two relatively distinct seasons: the rainy season between October and March, with January and February being the rainiest and cloudiest months. The dry season between April and September is when there is the least chance of rain or cloud cover. June and July are the clearest and driest months. For this reason, these are the months with the highest tourist influx and highest service costs (high season).
  • Personal Information.
To make your reservation, we require the personal information of all visitors, such as full names, dates of birth, nationality, ID number, etc. This information is secure and protected by Peruvian law and is absolutely necessary. Privacy policies are strictly enforced.
  • How to Book.
After requesting a quote by filling out the form on the left and receiving confirmation of availability, you must email a digital photo or scan of each group member’s personal documents. A prepaid invoice will then be sent to you so you can send us the 40% of the total tour price required to reserve your space in advance. The remaining balance is payable upon arrival in Cusco before the tour begins. Transfers involve an additional fee for using the payment platform (fees), which range between 5.9 and 6.5%.
  • Acclimatization period.
Cusco is 3,300 meters above sea level, and Machu Picchu is 2,700 meters above sea level. You should take it easy and acclimatize properly by drinking fluids and eating light meals for at least the first few days of your stay in these areas.
  • Seniors and children.
Seniors and young children are welcome to participate in this tour without any inconvenience. However, this tour is not recommended for people with mobility issues or wheelchair users.
